ASTRON & IBM Center for Exascale Technology

First fast optical link arrived

The first IBM optical signal transport modules, so-called Micropods, have arrived at ASTRON. These are the same components IBM also uses for its high-end computer systems. The modules are currently being tested at ASTRON. The goal is to use these Micropods for a next version of an advanced signal processing board, UniBoard, which ASTRON developed in the context of the RadioNet programme.
